Today's proclamation is Why I love...My favorite childhood characters.

My favorite Childhood character came after my childhood.
I read as a child but not children books. I read mostly magazines such as Ebony, Jet, Upscale, Time, Newsweek. I do recall Amelia Bedella.. she was so very funny!!!!
My favorite is Cecile of the American Girl Series. I fee in love with this character: Cecile Amelie Rey is a free girl of color in 1850's New Orleans. It's an exciting time in her life-- Mardi Gras season, full of parties and balls, is coming up. More importantly, her beloved brother Armand is about to return from two years of study in France. But when she meets a new friend, unexpected adventures begin!
The six book series is a delight and I think every young girl should have the collection. Great reading and life lessons.
Everyone loves Amelia Bedelia, the literal-minded housekeeper! When she makes a sponge cake, she puts in real sponges. When she weeds the garden, she replants the weeds. And when she pitches a tent, she throws it into the woods!
Ha! I love Amelia Bedelia and all her funny, silly antics.
ReplyDeleteI never got to know Cecile but I plan to introduce her to my future children *Crosses fingers*
ReplyDeleteBut I adored Amelia Bedelia. She was always so much fun.
I loved Amelia Bedelia but I'm not sure if I remember Cecile. I read all the American Girls series...or so I thought.
