Each week a one-word writing prompt will be selected and you are to share a short story, poem, essay, thought, or photo relating to that topic. (I'll post the writing prompt for the coming week on Saturdays to give you time to work on your post.)
This week prompt is 'SHOES"
Choosing Shoes
by Frida Wolfe
New shoes, new shoes,
Red and pink and blue shoes.
Tell me, what would you choose,
If they'd let us buy?
Red and pink and blue shoes.
Tell me, what would you choose,
If they'd let us buy?
Buckle shoes, bow shoes,
Pretty pointy-toe shoes,
Strappy, cappy low shoes;
Let's have some to try.
Pretty pointy-toe shoes,
Strappy, cappy low shoes;
Let's have some to try.
Bright shoes, white shoes,
Dandy-dance-by-night shoes,
Perhaps-a-little-tight shoes,
Like some? So would I.
Dandy-dance-by-night shoes,
Perhaps-a-little-tight shoes,
Like some? So would I.
BUT
Flat shoes, fat shoes,
Stump-along-like-that shoes,
Wipe-them-on-the-mat shoes,
That's the sort they'll buy.

Tuesday Teaser!!!
The voice warned her not to speak. Staci ignored the voice.
"First he has stopped communicating with me then he stays late at work'.
Malcolm takes a sip of his water before he plants the seed. 'You think he may be having an affair at the office or maybe he's gay". Against her better judgement she speak again. 'No he's not gay but i'm not sure about but i don't think.....
Malcolm replies: "That sounds like doubt". Being a man I can see this better than you and if your husband is sending mixed emotions than you ought to allow.....
Sidne, yeah i am glad you linked up and I love the shoes you picked, I have very wide feet so I can never find pretty shoes but it doesn't stop me from loving them, the poem is PERFECT!!!! Have a great week!!
ReplyDeleteLove the jaunty shoe poem/song! It could almost be sung as a round! Delightful!
ReplyDeleteInteresting teaser--sounds like a sad book.

She ought to allow what? Excellent teaser, I want to know more. Oh Lord I hope her husband isn't lying or cheating.
ReplyDeleteThe poem is perfect. I have a love/hate thing going on with shoes. Love to look but hate to wear.
ReplyDeleteYour teaser made me wonder: Is he having an affair? If not, then what's going on? I'd read more of this book to find out!
ReplyDeleteMy Teaser is from A LOT LIKE A LADY.
PS: Love the shoes too, especially the brown ones in the upper left-hand corner!
One of my favorite topics....SHOES! Loved the poem too, it leaves you guessing.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun poem you've shared with us, Sydne! Ahh yes, the beautiful and the practical... I'm afraid I gravitate toward the latter. :-) Thank you so much for joining us for the first Two Shoes Tuesday... hope to see you again next week! :-)
ReplyDeleteGreat poem! I am not a shoe person but love the shoe pics, even the pointy toe ones. Odd, but cool.
ReplyDeleteNice poem find for 'SHOES,' Sidne. I'm sort of like the last four lines as I have four pairs of shoes.
ReplyDeleteEveryday shoes are NIKE running shoes with generic arch supports, go to church and dress are black walking shoes with the arch supports, my sandals for around the house and yard and driveway, and my golfing shoes.
..
Love this shoe poem!!! Love love love it, said the shoe lady!
